Individual 04 Pineapple Upside-Down Cakes (page 339) – the sili angel

this is a silicone angel food pan. it DOES NOT work for angel food cake, but it DOES for pineapple upside-down cake.

we argued over the flattering individual pineapple cake pans, called for on ROSE’S heavenly CAKES: Individual Pineapple Upside-Down Cakes (page 339). until that pan arrives to my EXTENSIVE collection of cake pans, here is how to make a 9″ full size round cake wreath! use a silicone angel food silicone pan: it is the only tube pan i know of with a perfectly flat bottom.

arrange pineapples and cherries exactly as this picture. this was also argued!

hector’s take resembles a wreath of daisy flowers.

Lovely finished cake, hector! Nice use for fresh local pineapples!

Was the silicone pan half full, or did it bake well with less than that amount?

    • thx J. was a little “strange” to arrange the pineapples, so lets just say the pattern came about on its own! i do observed that you need to place the slices pretty close to one another, almost pushing edges since the slices shrink during baking and now you see them beautifully separated like tiles.

      i love this take!

H, now that you’ve pointed it out, I do notice that the slices inside the pan is a lot closer than the ones in the finished product. I never would have noticed otherwise.
It’s a beautiful take. I love the shape of the pineapple slices and it makes me think of fans and tropical climate – which so fits as you live in Hawaii :).

    • J, i expected a mess on the final product, because the slices were just stuck together when placing. and YES, the final product came out just like a tropical fan. it definitely is now my own design, i love the center whole, and all, it fits like a rosette or cart wheel.
