for ROSE’S heavenly CAKES: Miette’s Tomboy (page 145), i made a 4x batch. the best part about using my spiral mixer is that it has a lid, thus when adding the dry ingredients there is little mess!

How big was the finished cake? I love the Miette’s Tomboy and hate that the recipe is for a 6″ cake. Can you just multiply x4 and it comes out fine? What size pan did you use? I know lots of questions, but I think this is the best chocolate cake I’ve ever had and I want to make it bigger!

N, i did 4x and filled a 6×3 and two 9×2. What size r u wanting? It is one good fudgy cake!

9×2 is great and you answered it above with photos too! It’s become my “go to” birthday cake for chocolate lovers, but 6″ is just too small — I’m pretty sure my heart pan is 9×2 so that’s perfectly.
N, awesome. now that i am on my office, let me do the exact volume math for you:
6×3 is 84.8 cu in, 9×2 is 127.2 cu in.
if 84.8 cu in is 1x recipe, then 127.2 cu in is 1 * 127.2 / 84.8 = 1.5x recipe!
the wilton 9×2 heart pans that i have, have the same volume as my magic line 9×2 round pans, fyi.
Did you adjust the leavening for a 9″ pan? I actually have a 9″ x 3″ high pan (the 6″ in RHC is baked in the 3″) so I’d love to try this out in the larger pan. It’s a great cake and I love the fudgy texture!
I didn’t and had a slight sunken center, nothing too bad to worry.

Doing this again so it notifies me…
