we shared the top two-layers of ROSE’S heavenly CAKES: Woody’s Lemon Luxury Layer Cake (page 409) at the Kamehameha Canoe Club 2010 Molokai Hoe pa‘ina.
here i am with wiser paddler Bernie, she has become my ultra cake fan:
the sliced cake prior leaving my kitchen, at 8:00 am while watching the life web telecast of the race start:
if photos can explain better than words, here are from Bernie:
Bernie is a true example that photos are true reflection of a photographer.
H, that cake is so beautiful, wish I had a piece now! I’m happy to be reminded of how to cut a heart cake into modest portions, the last time I made one, it was two layers tall, very rich, and the traditional-shaped wedges were just too large!
Your paddling group all look like great friends, happy to think of you with them :).
Love the video, lovely combo of a historical cultural pusuit with the modern architecture behind. Which city is that?
Thx J. Outrigger canoe paddling is as native Hawaiian as can be, thus the cultural emphasis. This party was after the world’s toughest race: 41 miles, from Molokai to Oahu. Took my crew of near 7 hours. The crew is 9 people. An escort boat follows the canoe carrying 3 relief paddlers. The canoe runs with 6 paddlers. Switches are done every 30 minutes or so.
The video was taken in Waikiki.
